Wayne "Danny" Thornton is probably best known for his acting roles these days, but it was in his time as a professional rugby league player with Castleford (1986–90), when he first became used to public appearances. He also got his nickname "Danny" as a Tigers player. Danny went on to play for Doncaster and Bramley before retiring from the pro game, and playing for Cutsyke Raiders (±2002).
